Which city can call themselves the true Super-Fans
Does your teams fans support your team through thick and thin?

With April, May and June under our belt I thought it a good time to ask a few questions.

Are you a real fan? Do you support your team by actually going to the game? Americas favorite past time is growing by leaps and bounds, but does that translate into paid attendance?

Below you will find a simple chart to help us find out; From left to right you will find:

in the first row the overall rank
in row two the team name
in row three the number of games played
in row four the total paid admissions for all HOME games
in row five the average attendance per game
in row six the percentage of available seating filled
in row seven the teams current reccord

RNK TEAM GMS TOTAL AVG PCT Record Winning %

As you can see, there are many teams doing very well such as the Cleveland Indians who’s fans just don’t come out. On the other hand, you can see there are also teams who are doing quite poorly as a team yet the fans come out in droves like in  St Louis and San Francisco, Of course, we all know why they are going to San Fransisco, I guess that clears up any question about whether or not Barry would put butts in the seats, but what about next year?

If the fan attendance was purely driven by team standings, a very different chart would appear, take a look at what it would look like below:

RNK TEAM GMS TOTAL Winning %
2 LA Angels 42 1,731,966 .617

So the next time Seth Everet wants to go on a rant about how the Cincinnati Fans, all 4 million he thinks lives in this city, aren’t showing up at the ballpark, I simply say this “they give us no reason to go!”
