League 1
As I sit here today and reflect on my teams, one thought keeps going through my head: “Slow down, it’s April!” I have to remind myself of that fact daily, if not hourly. It’s easy to get nervous three weeks into the season. Is my guy hurt? Can I wait on my player to heat up? Can I pass up this ‘diamond in the rough’ on the waiver wire? Maneuvering this minefield is what separates the “so-called” men from the boys.
We have filled our 28th Fantasy Baseball Keeper League for the 2008 season and want to thank everyone who has joined our family. With the season so close, I’m not sure we would be able to fill a 29th league in time, so we have taken down the “join now” button. If you’re looking to become part of the family, just shoot me an e-mail at GodfatherATfantasybaseballmafia.com, and we will get you on the list for next year’s leagues.

Torii Hunter agreed to a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week. The Angels didn’t disclose financial terms of the deal, which is subject to Hunter passing a physical, but the Los Angeles Times reported it was worth $90 million, the richest in Angels history. Hunter, 32, batted .297 with 28 home runs, 107 runs batted in, and 94 runs scored for the Minnesota Twins last season. He also won his seventh Gold Glove Award for defense, but is he a hypocrite? The Orioles announced today that Dave Trembley will remain as Manager through the end of next year. Trembley’s deal includes a team option for 2009 and it seems that his performance between now and then will determine if that option is picked up. He’s gone 29-25 since taking over for Sam Perlozzo so itf this is an indication of things to come, it’s safe to say that option would get picked up.
After managing in the Minor Leagues for two decades, Trembley knows how to get things exactly the way he wants them.“You can print the T-shirts,” he said at one point Wednesday, stressing the simplicity of his message. “It’s ‘be on time, be professional and respect the game.’
It’s not how fast, it’s how many
His name is synonymous with strikeout. He pitched a perfect game in his senior year of high school, ultimately helping him get selected in the third round of the 1982 draft. However, he chose to go to USC, holding off his major league debut until 1988. This former teammate of Mark McGwire even made his acting debut in the movie “Little Big League.” Think you know who it is?It seems so simple: throw a ball inside an imaginary box over home plate. Face it—if we could do it with any consistency, we would be making eight figures, not five or six. But instead of the big paychecks, the reward for those of us who play Fantasy Baseball is leveraging the talent and skill of these stars for our teams’ statistics.
