When participating in a snake draft, knowing what strategy your competitors are employing is of little to no value.  I first realized this last year when FantasyBaseballMafia.com held it’s first annual Hall Of Fame League draft. Everyone and their mother knew, going in, that Jeanne in Hollywood stocks up on anyone who at some point in their career had been affiliated with the Angel’s organization.  Fred in Cali has a thing for flat-footed, corn-fed mules like Jim Thome and Nick Swisher, and GP lives and dies by his triple-filtered, statistical value analysis.

I was amused when these, almost fictional, Hall of Famers were actually living up to their reputations.  How often can you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the person picking before you in the 17th round is going to take Jim Edmonds (he’ll feel better this year Jeanne!)?
