The Fantasy Baseball Mafia insider gives us an update:
Yankees have offered Cabrera, Kennedy and Tabata to the Twins.
While I cannot give you alot of information.
Santana wants to go to NY and the Twins have cleared roster spots. I can’t say anymore.
Do the math. Hint Hint.

Minnesota Twins:
Sent LHP Ricky Barrett and LHP Errol Simonitsch outright to Triple-A Rochester.
I say they announce the signing of Ron Mahay shortly as well
I would think there would have to be more to get Santana. One more player.
I also think the twins would not be getting enough in return for JoTana. As much as I like the fact the Yankees aren’t giving up too much, I think the Twins need atleast one more minor league pitcher.
Any more indications that this is going to happen, and soon? It seems to make sense for both sides to finalize a deal quickly. The longer Santana lingers on the market, the less leverage the Twins have (and they don’t have much anyway thanks to Santana’s NTC and contract extension) when teams can look to Bedard, Willis, Sheets, or Halliday as options. Also, the Yankees will want to pull the trigger fast so they can get after a centerfielder in free agency before they get scooped up.
[…] more shady. We’ve got a tip that a fantasy baseball site calling itself The Grand Jury knows what the Yanks are offering. Supposedly, the Bombers want to send Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera and Jose Tabata to the Twins for […]
I would think if his happens the Yanks would be players for Andruw Jones. What is Brian Cashman’s attitude with Hank trading ( or trying) to trade all his prized prospects ? I believe Cashman’s contract is done in 2008. Is he looking for Real Estate in the LA area ?
Guys, I mentioned this in an earlier post.
-The deal was getting there but now with the Garza/Young deal I told you guys about, about go down it doesn’t look like Santana will be dealt until July.
-
So they are going to hold on to him, but still trade Nathan, or are they going to hold on to both Nathan and Santana and if the season goes to hell, have a rent-a-player auction?
As of this moment it looks like they will keep them both. But most likely July trades are probable. I doubt they blow it up now but I can see it.
More Later.
Well, if Nathan does go to Milwaukee in a deal, what is the sense in keeping Santana until July. It almost makes sense to see what they get for Nathan, and then pull the trigger on a deal with the Yankees to fill in the remaining holes.
