If you have nothing better to do at 1:00 in the morning why not a Mockdraft to tire you out. I had the second pick in the draft and fellow Mafia member Matt in Cincy had the the third pick. It is too much info to list the whole drafts so I will just list our picks.

The Wiretap did a riveting show on Monday where we laid out our top sleepers for 2008. I am going to lay out my sleepers in this post with comments. In creating this list I used players that had at least an ADP of over 240. MOCKDRAFTCENTRAL.COM.  Lets get to the sleepers:

C: Ramon Hernandez: (ADP 300) Ramon Hernandez who I watched play in the Caribbean League prior to the 2007 season. He was 30 pounds overweight and had to play 1B. I did not pick this guy on a single team. Then the guy has an oblique injury, imagine that ! He hit 235 in April then 209 in May. In 2006, Hernandez had 23 homers and hit 275. As a catcher those numbers will be huge. I love Ramon to rebound.

1B) Lyle Overbay: ( 363 ADP) This guy only played 122 games in 2007, and people have already forgot who he was. Jamie - Lynee Spears is wishing she was this lucky. In 2006 Overbay hit 23 homers and hit 312. At 363 this is a great selection.

2b) Jeff Kent: ( 250 ADP) This guy is so old he dated Estelle Getty, Morgan Fairchild, and the Nanny Fran Drescher. The Dodgers have a new manager in Joe Torre and dreams of a title. This guy has one more good season in him, last year hit 302 and had 20 homers.

3B) Ty Wiggington: ( 276 ADP)  This guy is a former Devil Ray and is still being overlooked. This Houston offense is going to be tough like a young Mike Tyson. In 2006 and 2007 he has quietly gone about getting you 24 homers and 275 average. If you wait this long to pick him you need to get yourself a book or a magazine.

SS)Bobby Crosby ( 348 ADP) No good reason, at 348 you are not going to get Willie Mays. His best season was 2003, and it was not that great. I love to gamble and this is my gamble of the draft.

OF) Lastings Milledge: ( 247 ADP) I visited spring training last season and this guy can hit a baseball. Does Isisah Thomas spend some time in the METS front office ? This guy can play and the Nationals have quietly put together a nice lineup and are moving into a smaller park.

OF)    Jose Guillen: (275 ADP) This guy is coming off a monster year that led him to a monster contract. I like Guillen to keep up the numbers. The guy can play, staying on the field has always been the issue.I love the Royals lineup Dejesus, Butler, gordon, Tehan, these are not the lowly Royals any longer.

OF) Ryan Freel ( 322 ADP) A Jacksonville native going at 322 are you kidding me. No wonder Dicky V, lost his voice. Any guy that can steal 40 bases is a need and should never go at 322. Matt Stairs is going ahead of Freel, so take advantage of these ill informed drafters.

SP) Scott Olsen ( 422 ADP) The guy is the ace of the Marlins staff. The guy has the talent of Josh Beckett and the brain of the South Carolina MS. Teen America contestant. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

Former MLB.com Host Jim Leyritz has been charged in connection with a DUI homicide occurring in Fort Lauderdale, Fla over the weekend. I’ve never made it a secret that I’m not a big fan of Mr Leyritz or his voice, but I would never wish this on anyone, not even you Jim. I ask those of you who pray to do so for Jim and the family of this young woman who was killed in the accident. They will need all the help they can get through this troubling time.

A career that once showed such promise filled with a young pitcher who was going to lead the Cubs and its fans to a World Series is now over. Mark Prior signed a one year contract worth one million to three million dollars. This is a low risk deal for the Padres but high reward. If Prior can ever regain the form of 2003 the Padres just signed a third ace for the price of a long reliever. That contract is for one fourth of what Carlos Silva’s contract is for the 2008. I have to ask where do you see Prior’s 2008 projections ?

A. 60 + days on the DL

B) 10 + Wins and 140 Innings Pitched

C) 15 + Wins 175 Innings Pitched

D) 7 + wins 100 inning Pitched

E)  Bittten by goat on his way to PETCO PARK , and does not pitch in 2008.

NL Central Over / Under

It’s my opinion that this division is the most interesting of all the divisions for the sole reason of each team having a chance of winning it.  Every team goes 81 and 81 this year!  Just kidding.  Here are my thoughts on how the division will shape up come the end of September 2008.  I ask of you… Over, or Under?

  1. Chicago Wins 88-1/2 games
  2. Cincinnati Wins 76-1/2 games
  3. Houston Wins 75-1/2 games
  4. Milwaukee Wins 78-1/2 games
  5. Pittsburgh Wins 66-1/2 games
  6. St. Louis Wins 74-1/2 games

Please comment with the line number and “Over”, or “Under”.  Next week… AL Central

Roger Clemens posted a video Sunday repeating his denials of the steroids use alleged against him in the Mitchell Report. He also said he would be interviewed for a future episode of “60 Minutes,” but a spokesman for CBS said nothing has been finalized.

The vibrantly painted Chevy Major League Baseball Silverado is a flashy street truck designed to fit like a glove. Look closely and you’ll see that all MLB team logos have been included in the truck’s paint. Inside, the wood trim is made from the same material used in baseball bats, while the leather seats have glove-like stitching. A ground effects kit, a wide-screen TV with a Wii console, and 22-inch wheels complete the package, which may be the best GM truck at SEMA this year.

Chevrolet Major League Baseball Silverado  highlights:

*Multi-color, MLB-inspired paint scheme incorporating all team logos
*Power-lift tonneau
*Wide-screen TV with Wii gaming console
*Bose Surround Sound system
*Leather-trimmed interior with baseball stitching, color and feel
*Ash wood (baseball bat material) trim

GM Accessories features (production and concept):

AL West Over / Under

Is it just me, or does it seem like none of these teams want to win the division?  The A’s traded away Haren to get better in the coming years (just not next year), Texas signed a pitcher from Japan who’s certainly no Dice-K, but definately better than Igaaaaaaaawa, the Angels got Torii Hunter to catch balls in that big park, but that same big park will hurt his offensive numbers and Mariners put thumbs in their ass and spun for fun.  Is it possible for all the teams to lose more games next year than they did this past year?  I ask of you… Over, or Under?

  1. Los Angeles Wins 92-1/2 games
  2. Oakland Wins 72-1/2 games
  3. Seattle Wins 86-1/2 games
  4. Texas Wins 76-1/2 games

Please comment with the line number and “Over”, or “Under”.  Also note 1/2 games have been added to assist reponses.  Next week… NL Central

By Butters in D.C.

If your team hasn’t made a free agent move yet, you’ve missed out on some of the best free agents the sport has seen since, well, at least last year.  But, we are about halfway through the hot stove season, and it’s time to look at some players who have changed teams and who could make an impact on your fantasy team.
